In addition to close friends and school spirit, the ASU Sun Devil Marching Band offers musical rewards for the aspiring musician as well as a unique and rich experience for the non-music major that enjoys music as an avocation.
The ASU Sun Devil Marching Band is recognized as being one of the finest marching bands in the nation. The 350+ member ensemble has appeared in the Rose Bowl half-time show as well as the 1987 and 1997 Rose Bowl parades and was the 1991 recipient of the John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Trophy, which is the highest award given at the collegiate level. Performing in Sun Devil Stadium, the band features new musical arrangements as well as a mixture of precision drills and pageantry at all home games. Hard work, high standards, and a family atmosphere bring a very special Sun Devil Pride to the organization.
As an incoming student, you are given an opportunity to take part immediately in an activity that stands at the center of campus life. Membership into any of the athletic bands is open to all university and community college students. The only prerequisite is that you have some prior band experience.
The Sun Devil Marching Band meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4–6 p.m.
